It ignites with the help of an electromagnetic 2-pin igniter in a plastic container. The plastic container is a flame retarding polycarbonate. Along with this it uses a radio-interference suppression capacitor. The S 10 standard of the Philips Safety Starter makes it increase the life of the lamp by 25% compared to non-environment friendly switch starters.
